      OktoberPinkfest - 2013 オクトーバー・ピンクフェスト2013

      The Aloha Breast Cancer Network, in partnership with Kapiolani Women’s Center, will be holding its First OktoberPinkfest -2013, October 19 and 20.  The weekend will include guest speakers from Japan and presentations by breast cancer experts focused on education and healing at Kapiolani Women’s Center.  The event will end on Sunday, October 20 with a special dinner at Hale Pualani featuring “healing” dishes prepared by guest chef Yoshiko Hondo from Japan and entertainment by Jake Shimabukuro.

      Part 1—“Western Medicine”


      9:00 a.m.:                  Mineko Kaisho, High risk breast program Nurse Practitoner

                                        with Kapiolani Medical Center, will provide an update on breast

                                        cancer research and discoveries


      9:45 a.m.:                      Dr. Ann Ohata, radiologist, Kapiolani Medical Center, will introduce the latest 3D mammogram and technology




      Part 2—“Eastern Medicine” (featuring two guest speakers from Japan)


      10:30 a.m.-Noon:       “Healing with Foods” -- Chef Yoshiko Hondo of Japan will conduct a cooking demonstration and sample tastings of her “healing” cuisine.

                                          “Healing with Mind and Body” – Simonton Therapy Counselor Fumiyo Fujioka of Japan will share the Simonton Method of therapy used on cancer patients.




      About Fumiyo Fujioka, Simonton Therapy Counselor


      Fumiyo Fujioka is a pharmacist and a cancer treatment coordinator.   As a caregiver of many cancer patients, she has keenly felt the importance of mental care, which led her to become a licensed counselor of the Simonton Method for cancer patients.  Since 2008, Fujioka has offered psychotherapeutic counseling based on the Simonton Method at the Fujioka Clinic in Kumamoto, Japan. She is also a representative of Danshari Kumamoto, which has regular group-sharing meetings. In 2011, she established a company Te To Te To Te (“Hand to Hand to Hand”) in Kumamoto, which operates an organic soap studio, and organizes seminars and lectures on various holistic health topics.

      �-�剤師、がん治�™�コーディネーターとして、多くのがん患者さんと接し、メンタルケアの大切さを�-�感したことから、平成20  年にがんの心理�™�法サイモントン�™�法認�®�カウンセラーを取得。以来、熊本県の�-�岡医�™�にてサイモントン�™�法による  カウンセリングを提供している。 熊本�-�捨離会代表として、�®�期的にシェア会を�-�催。 平成23年に㈱テトテトテを設立。  石けん工房の経�-�他、各種セミナー、講演会の企�"�運�-�を行っている。



      About Chef Yoshiko Hondo, “Healing Chef”


      Chef Yoshiko Hondo started her career as a food coordinator when she was 23 years old.  Soon after, she moved to New York to study about foods from around the world.  While in New York, she also worked for "Nomura Executive Dining " as a sous chef and served meals to VIPs from all over the world.   After six years in New York, she moved to Los Angeles and studied Organic and Macrobiotic foods while doing catering work.   When she returned to Japan after 10 years in the U.S., Hondo started collaborating with a hospital and serving meals at a program called “Last Supper.”  This uniquely named event’s concept is actually to create meals to help lives link to the future.  She has also served vegetarian foods at the "International Buddhist Conclave."  Patients began to recognize that her healthy cooking seemed to have "healing" affects.  They started calling her meals "Joushou Meals," which translates to, "foods that make you feel good and/or gives you good luck.”  Hondo opened her own restaurant named “Yushima Shokudo” in 2010.  In 2011, she went to the area of Japan devastated by of the Great East JEarthquake and Tsunami to help and serve meals to the injured and displaced.  In 2012, her voluntary organization called, "Cooking team without Borders (KokkyonakiRyoridan)" was officially approved as a non-profit organization by the Japanese government.  Honda continues cooking and serving meals with LOVE in in Japan and in many countries all over the world. 

      23歳でフードコーディネーターとなり、単身渡米。NYにて、世�•�各国の�-™理を学ぶ。NYの野村エグゼクティブ・ダイニング  にスーシェフとして出向し、世�•�のエグゼクティブに�-™理をふるまう。6年後にロサンゼルスへ移住。ケータリングをしなが  らオーガニックやマクロビを学ぶ。10年�-"のアメリカ�"�活を終え�-�本へ帰国した後、�-��™�とのコラボ企�"�「最後の�™©餐・食  事会」での「未来へつなげる�'�を作るご飯」や、「世�•�仏�•™徒会議」でベジタリアン�-™理を作ったことなどがきっかけで以  �™�、「上昇ご飯」と�'�ばれるように。2010年「湯島食堂」をオープン。2011年には東�-�本大震災の被災地�"�援でケータリン  グを行う。2012年、食を通じて世�•�をつなぎ、食を通して世�•�を平�'�に、という思いで立ち上げたNPO法人「国境なき�-™理  団」が、正式に特�®�非�-�利活動法人として�"�府から認�®�される。現在、�-�本および世�•�の各地で「愛あるご飯」を提供中。


      About Mineko Kaisho MSN, FNP-BC, APRN-Rx

      She is a nurse practitioner for Kapiolani Women’s Center BCCCP (Breast and Cervical cancer control program) and High risk breast program.

      She has 5 years experience as a nurse practitioner in women’s health, primary care, and geriatric care.

      12 years experience as a registered nurse in hospitals in both Hawaii and Japan. She is a board certified family nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority who graduated with distinction at Hawaii Pacific University in 2008 and earned Master’s degree in Science of Nursing with distinction at Hawaii Pacific University. She is a mother of 3 children and lives in Hawaii since 1994.




      About Ann A. Ohata, M.D., breast radiologist, Kapi‘olani Women’s Center

       Dr. Ohata is a board-certified radiologist with a strong interest in breast radiology intensified by the experience of her mother's breast cancer. Dr. Ohata is a graduate of Punahou School and the University of Hawaii. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency at University of California Davis/Martinez VA Medical Center and her fellowship at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
